Letter to you about our school "Puriena"

Kedainiai is in the centre of Lithuania. Our school – kindergarten “Puriena” is situated in this town. Where comes the name from? That is the name of small tiny flowers - marsh marigolds growing in Lithuania. An old story tells that long ago there were lots of marsh marigolds growing in the same place. Small little yellow flowers growing everywhere. So the school emblem depicts this flower .

If you come to our school we would introduce you to Matas and Barbora (Mathias and Barbara). They are hosts of our museum. They can tell about ancient Lithuanian daily work, to show the work tools, to tell a story.

There are some older pupils in our school “Puriena” as well. You can see their and teacher’s trimmings in the photo. Barbora and Matas say those trimmings were used by ancient Lithuanians to decorate their homes during holidays. Today, we're just learning to cut nicely and to make beautiful trimmings.

The school is decorated not only with the pupils’ works but with teachers’ and educators’ as well. Last year, our principal and the principal’s assistant made an old Lithuanian girl. Barbora was very happy with the made Lithuanian girl. She tells us about ancient Lithuanian clothes. Matas says that “Puriena” will help us to become real Lithuanians. We think he is right, so we rush to tell you today's most popular ancient Lithuanian fairy tale.
